A list.

1. Love someone else. Constantly. Especially when they don’t deserve it.

2. Pray more often, and not just for you. Focus on the needs of others, and the greatness of God.

3. Sit quietly in the morning. Do not make a peep. Watch something or someone through your window, or gaze at one of those rambunctious children sleep peacefully, still for only moments.

4. Drink tea more often instead of coffee.

5. Listen. To God, to others. Your child or sibling rambling on about something that may not mean much to you. It means the world to them. Listen to the lonely cashier, to the birds, to the silence. Speak less. Just listen.

6. Stretch your physical limits. Make it a goal to touch your toes, run a 5k, bike a century, swim more. You can accomplish more than you think.

7. Nurture something. Make it grow.

8. Make a new friend, who needs you more than you need them. Show them kindness, respect, and love.

9. If you haven’t already- learn to forgive. There is nothing quite so freeing.

10. Explore something. Alone, or with someone. Take pictures, make notes, blog about it. It doesn’t have to be the other side of the planet, the other side of the country, or even the other side of town. Walk that trail you’ve been meaning to for years. Look at that new antiques and flea market. Examine your backyard more closely.

Lastly, savor every moment and every person. You do not know how long you will have them, and they do not know how long they will have you.
Make your life count.
